winter finally decided to make an appearance this year right when i made plans for an engagement shoot with my good friend andy and his beautiful and newly acquired fiance, selah. we thought about braving the cold temperatures anyway and venturing out doors for a quick session but instead opted to make a trip to the ever-lovely opryland hotel. and what a wonderful choice it was! even though it was nearly below freezing outside the sun was shining in on us through that gorgeous glass ceiling and keeping us toasty warm. here are some of the shots we got….

this last shot makes me feel like i’m outside in some warm, exotic location…maybe the florida keys or costa rica. i’m so thankful for a beautiful and versatile place like opryland hotel to go and shoot when winter rears it’s ugly head.

the rodriguez family

i’m so thankful for this very mild winter because it allowed me to have a wonderful outdoor family shoot with the rodriguez family this past week. i shot nicole’s bridal photos 4 years ago (crazy!) so it was so good to catch up again and meet her husband, javier, and little girl, clara, for the first time. check out these beautiful people — they should be j. crew models.

thankful for the sunlight and for the bearable january days. and thankful for this sweet family for giving me the opportunity to shoot! can’t wait to meet your new baby boy when he arrives :)

ellie + josh — the wedding

january weddings are few and far between so needless to say i was excited to meet ellie and josh when they asked me to shoot theirs. it was definitely a cool and crisp january saturday but everyone’s spirits were high and there was plenty of dancing to keep us all warm :)

loved ellie’s vintage-style dress in a golden-ish hue. take a look…

brandi + brian — jackson, mississippi

what a gorgeous wedding! brandi and brian’s wedding was my 2nd opportunity to shoot in jackson, mississippi this year and i LOVED the venue that they chose! i’m not sure that i’ll ever tire of old warehouse buildings turned venue. the textures are endlessly inspirational.

brandi was one of the most stunning brides and had such a sweet, happy glow on her face the entire day. she was a bridesmaid in a wedding i shot earlier this year in gulf shores, alabama so it was super cool to hang with her and some of the same folks from the gulf shores wedding again.

feast your eyes on the lovely mr. and mrs. mcguire….

brandi and brian — your wedding was such a treat and your entire crew was such a pleasure to work with (some of them for the 2nd time). thank you for choosing me as your photographer and blessings on your marriage :)

ellie + josh — engagements at Robert’s western world

how in the world do i continue to get the radest clients time after time? this is a question i ask myself frequently.

ellie and josh are having a fairly short engagement (reason number uno why i knew these were folks after my own heart…john and i had a 2.5 month engagement). their wedding is mid january and so we needed to squeeze some photos in pronto. they suggested Robert’s Western World for one of the locations (reason number dos why i knew these were folks after my own heart). heeeeckkkk yes, was my reply.

how in the world do i continue to have perfect weather at every shoot? this is another question i ask myself frequently. the answer is…..i don’t know, but i’m knocking on all kinds of wood to keep it that way.

cristina + tc at arrington vineyards

i have wanted to shoot at arrington vineyards for the longest time now and this past week i finally got my chance. cristina and tc got engaged at arrington on their anniversary a few months ago so it was the obvious place to go for photos — and i’m thrilled about the shots we got. here are some of my favorite ones, check them out….

andrea + louis

andrea and louis got hitched at aerial in downtown nashville. i’d been to the space before but never had the chance to shoot there until this past saturday and….holy moly. i’m in love with that venue! it’s so other-worldly nestled in between all the sky scrapers. the garden lights streaming back and forth above the dance floor just feels twinkly and dreamy. add to that the fact that i got a solid 45 minutes to shoot with just the bride and groom before the ceremony and you have yourself a very happy photographer :)

andrea and louis — you guys were so easy to be around all day. i had a blast, your guests were awesome, your venue was killer and you guys looked amazing. thanks for choosing me, enjoy your photos!

mandee + wes – isle of palms

oooh maannn!!! mandee and wes are some seriously dear friends of mine and my husbands. the 4 of us and 2 other friends have done vacation together every year for 4 years now and it is something i look forward to every single year. these two are getting hitched this october (sooo stoked for them) but alas….they only had one day to choose from and i was already booked for another wedding so sadly i will not be shooting their wedding :(:(:(:( saddest frowny face ever.

so instead of wedding photos we decided to do engagement photos on the isle of palms while on vacation. we did a super fast 25 minute session because there was a storm quickly approaching but, as you can tell, it’s all we needed. the light was perfect, they are gorgeous, the wind was blowing just the right way on the marsh — if only the stars could align this perfectly for every shoot. check them out….

i wish i had gotten a better close up of the ring — it’s seriously one of the most gorgeous and unique rings i’ve ever seen to date.

oh so sad that i will be missing the wedding, especially after hearing about all the ridiculously cool ideas they will be incorporating into both the ceremony and reception. dangggit!!!

mandee and wes, we love y’all so many times and are so happy for you :)
