my turtle did new things today.

shay shay, my pet turtle, has been getting acclimated to his new house. i got it for him about a week ago. he’s gone through a lot of change the past few weeks since i got him, so he’s been a little bit shy. always hiding under rocks and burying his face in the corners of his tank, etc.

but last night i come home to find him in his usual corner. i turn on his heat lamp, come back a few minutes later, and he’s napping up on the rock, catching some rays.

then this morning, i turn on his lamp, come back a few minutes later, and he has somehow gotten up on this log!! i don’t know how he did that, there’s no real easy way to climb up it and he hasn’t been a very good climber in the past. i guess he’s been practicing while i’m not looking :)
