alathea and scott erickson!

i got to spend a large portion of last weekend at the National Youth Workers Convention in nashville helping my husband promote the child sponsorship work of Compassion International. in addition to seeing 145 kids get sponsors for the first time i got to spend some time with the beautiful Alathea girls (whose studio session i photographed earlier this year) and the brilliant live painter, Scott Erickson. in addition to spending time with some of these lovely folks i also witnessed their talents on stage through the lens of my camera — and believe…these are some seriously talented individuals. here’s a little peek at what i captured….

i LOVE these ladies! you must check out their christmas album at www.alathea.com. it’s the perfect christmas-mountain-folk-blend of music. plus, they cover my favorite hymn, be thou my vision and it’s fantastic.

i love scott’s ability to take a really cool art form and not only make it into a performance but also to produce a genuinely awesome product. his paintings are so original and have such feeling. i love it! aaaand, the fact that he is one of the best karaoke singers i’ve ever witnessed doesn’t hurt :)

it’s so nice to be surrounded by people who inspire excellence with their craft. i love to see people out doing what they do best. it’s such a great thing to witness.

so if you need the best girl band ever to perform at an event or your church, call alathea. if you need a blow-your-mind painting, scott is your dude. book them, then i’ll come take the photos :)
