kathryn + matt — christmas

it seems like 2014 was a crazy year for so many people but i think few probably had it as crazy as these two. kathryn and matt were on the way to their wedding rehearsal dinner back in october when they got a call that kathryn’s mom, sister, and her two boys were in a terrible car accident. the boys and her sister were on their way to one hospital (no life threatening injuries), but her mom was being life-flighted to vanderbilt and they had no word about her status. it was a nightmare come true and the status of kathryn’s mom was critical and uncertain for hours and hours. needless to say the wedding was postponed as everyone waited to hear about kathryn’s mom. long story short, in what was nothing short of a pure miracle, her mom beat the odds, pulled through and is now well on her way to an unbelievably speedy recovery considering the extent of her injuries. she’s doing amazing and was able to spend the holidays at home surrounded by her eternally grateful family. so what started out as a terrible, awful tragic event has turned into something that makes us all hold our dear ones a little bit closer. our tears have turned from sorrowful ones into tears of gratitude and that is a beautiful thing. in light of these events, kathryn and matt decided opt for a small chapel ceremony to make the marriage official and to postpone the big wedding ceremony until april, which i will be shooting and can’t wait to celebrate with them. as an interim for the wait we decided to do christmas photos with these newlyweds in downtown franklin. i even got to meet their adorable little pup — millie!

it’s a crazy way to start a marriage but i am so happy to see these two with smiles on their faces again. if y’all can make it through these first few months i think you’re pretty well set. so thankful for the both of your and your wonderful spirits. and kathryn, so glad you found matt — i think he’s a keeper :)

see you in april!!!
