one year conviction free!!
last week marked one year exactly since i got arrested for taking these (in my opinion, spectacular) photos of this burning building between 5th and 6th ave.
i mean…sure i probably shouldn’t have been that close. but the documentary photographer in me just couldn’t look away. kind of like a moth drawn to a porch light.
very, very fortunately for me, i knew a guy and he got my case dismissed (although i still had to go in for mugshots and finger prints, but, knowing i wasn’t in any serious trouble, found that more entertaining than anything).
…..but even if he hadn’t bailed me out, it would have been worth it. i learned my lesson but i definitely don’t regret it. i mean, seriously…who has stories like this one!!?!?

Strange that you feel it was a legitimate arrest. From your description it was harassment and not something that should be tolerated by any citizen.
Those involved in the arrest should be chastised and the only way to do that is for you to lodge a complaint.

well…in their defense, they had made an earlier announcement for people to clear the immediate area. i had just wandered a little too close…
